About the Artist

A Bowl of Marshmallows equates to the current state of my brain. Living with depression means I have some good days and some bad days. On certain days, my brain is equivalent to a bowl of marshmallows - fluffy and immobile. This doesn't stop me from creating though as I'm rather persistent and stubborn. From this Bowl of Marshmallows spawns whimsical worlds, fantastical creatures, and nature-inspired designs.

I was born into a refugee Teochew family who escaped Vietnam (also known as the Boat People) and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, California. Frequently played in the dirt and drew on everything from paper to napkins. I graduated with a Bachelors of Arts in Studio Art (with an emphasis in illustration and fiber arts) from San Jose State University, where I studied under international fiber artist, Consuelo Jimenez Underwood.

California has always been my home, but a new path in life has brought me to Paris, France, where I'm further developing myself as an illustrator and fiber artist. Inspiration comes from my travels, imagination, nature, and my family.

Languages spoken include English, Teochew, and Cantonese. French is currently in-progress.
